On 25 and 26 July the Peel region hosted national and international researchers, scientists, agribusinesses and innovators who are contributing to the Future Food Systems Cooperative Research Centre (CRC).
The CRC successfully received funding from the Federal Government earlier this year and consists of three major programs which will be rolled out over the ten year lifespan, including: Food Hubs, Logistics and Trade; Next Generation Indoor Cropping; Breakthroughs in Value Adding.
Murdoch University is the lead university from WA in the CRC and the Peel region will be home to a number of the research projects which will link to the Australian National Phenome Centre and the Agri-Innovation Precinct at the Peel Business Park.
Interstate and international representatives had a site visit at Murdoch’s campus, CY O’Connor research facility in North Dandalup, Peel Business Park and Pinjarra.
The Program Three Forum was held at the Sebel in Mandurah and covered the breakthrough science that will be applied to create future food products, plus presentations from industry participants.
The Peel Development Commission is looking forward to being involved in this exciting industry-government-university partnership and will drive to have on-ground results and involvement with our regional stakeholders.
