Celebrating the Stage 1 lot release of the Peel Business Park today in Mandurah last week, industry representatives and prospective purchasers marked this milestone with strong investment interest and an eagerness for the transformation of the Peel region. Stage 1 represents the first release of lots in LandCorp’s 120 hectare development, in the wider 1,000 hectare Peel Business Park in Nambeelup. The release includes lots within the Agri-innovation Precinct which represent a key element of activation for the Business Park, and is a significant investment opportunity for intensive food production and associated agri-business operations.

The Peel region is well-known for its enviable healthy, aquatic and active lifestyle and that’s reflected in our population growth forecasts. Just look around you – here we are, under an hour from Perth, the gateway to the South West, with close access to the airport, ports and rail, surrounded by the pristine beauty and uncrowded assets that accentuate the region.
But lifestyle alone isn’t enough to drive economic growth. We need ways to diversify our regional economy, create jobs and attract investment and spending to the region.

The Transform Peel project brings together opportunities for innovation, investment and development like never before in Peel. For example, Stage 1 includes a renewable energy microgrid, which is expected to be one of the largest for an industrial development in Australia.

Peel Development Chair, Paddi Creevey said, “It’s important we address the question of ‘what’s in it for us?’ We need to be able to demonstrate not only the long term vision, but also the practical support and collaborative backing that makes this initiative so unique.”

The Shire of Murray are tireless in their support for investors offering differential rates as well as a three-year rates holiday for the first five businesses to commit to the project. LandCorp, the WA government’s land development agency which now includes the Industrial Lands Authority, and their appointed sales agents CBRE bring specialised market intelligence and a deep understanding of the emerging opportunities in the agri-business industry. The Peel Development Commission facilitate and advocate the synergies and support from local, State and Federal Government including the State Government Royalties for Regions program.

“This is real incentive and real support that provides investors so much more than just a piece of land – it’s an opportunity get in on the ground floor of something transformational for business, industry and for the region.”

The Stage 1 Release is a significant step in developing the Peel region as an agri-business and innovation hub for the state – the strategic location is ideal for supporting new and emerging industries in a broad range of sectors. We have the location, we have the water, the beaches, the open space, the lifestyle and now we have a way of transforming the region economically as well. This project is in train and gathering momentum and this transformation is not something we hope will happen, it’s happening.
