The Peel Development Commission was honoured with the Bronze Award in Category 1 (Agencies with less than 100 full-time staff) at the Institute of Public Administration Australia WA (IPAA WA)’s 39th annual W.S. Lonnie Awards, held in Perth on 22 March 2024. The award ceremony recognises excellence in annual reporting and the importance of accountability and transparency in the public sector.
Peel Development Commission CEO Andrew Ward says the entire team is proud to be honoured for the third time at the W.S. Lonnie Awards, following a Gold award last year and a Bronze award in 2021.
“This recognition reflects our team’s dedication to organisational excellence and outstanding governance across all our work”, he said.
“We are pleased that our annual report’s informative nature, effective presentation, and alignment with government objectives were acknowledged by the Judging panel, highlighting our commitment to delivering the Commission’s strategic plan for a stronger, brighter and more prosperous future for the Peel region.”
The Lonnie Awards are highly competitive, with all state agencies automatically considered in the judging process. Judges commended the Commission’s 2022-23 annual report for its positive and constructive tone.
Judges also said the report has a very logical layout, clean, modern presentation, and a good approach to performance reporting with the Commission’s themes well linked to Government objectives.
The State’s regional development portfolio was well represented at the awards ceremony with the Pilbara Development Commission winning the Gold Award in the same category.
