The Peel Development Commission has been recognised for excellence in annual reporting at the 38th annual W.S. Lonnie Awards, held in Perth on March 31st. The award ceremony, organised and hosted by the Institute of Public Administration Australia WA (IPAA WA), recognises the importance of accountability and transparency in the public sector.

The Lonnie Awards are highly competitive, with all state agencies automatically considered in the judging process. Judges commended the report’s visually appealing and enjoyable-to-read nature, using local achievements to demonstrate how KPIs were met. The report also had clear links to government goals and outcomes that aligned with the Commission’s six sub-themes of the Peel Regional Investment Framework.

The Pilbara Development Commission won the Silver Award in the same category, with judges impressed by the report’s well-structured and user-friendly layout, great graphics, photos and engaging content.

Peel Development Commission CEO Andrew Ward, said, “This Gold Award is a testament to our team’s tireless efforts and dedication to transparency, accountability, and exceptional reporting standards and we are honoured to receive this prestigious recognition.

“We are proud of our report’s local relevance and clear links to the Commission’s strategic plan, and we look forward to continuing to showcase the unique achievements and challenges of the Peel region.”
