What a pleasure it was to have Minister Don Punch MLA on Bindjareb Country at Lake Clifton Thrombolites along with David Templeman MLA, Robyn Clarke MLA and Lisa Munday MLA to celebrate the official launch of the Peel Geotrail Drive

Our thanks to Uncle George Walley for providing a wonderful Welcome to Country and to all special guests who attended.

Supported by funding from the Cook Government, the new interpretive signage along the trail, spanning from Mandurah, to Lake Clifton and out to Pinjarra and Waroona, allows visitors to scan a QR code and learn more about the geological, natural and cultural highlights of the area.

It is through education about these sites that we can conserve them for both their geological and cultural heritage values, as well as giving local tourism a boost in the region.

The Commission worked in partnership with Dr Alan Briggs, Professor Ross Dowling and Wendy Dowling from Geoparks WA and Bindjareb elders to bring this project to life. Our thanks also to support received from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, surrounding local governments, Salt and Bush Eco Tours, Trails WA and Geological Survey of WA who have all been involved in making this important project a success.

It was a wonderful afternoon at the Lake Clifton Thrombolites – the jewel in our Geotrail crown and a special tourism attraction of cultural and environmental significance. Our thanks also to previous RED Grant recipient, Thorny Devil Brewery for hosting us for afternoon tea.
