Earlier this month, PDC staff attended the Peel Jobs Fair to provide information about jobs and skills of the future for the region. A journey mapping activity was also undertaken with other participants of the Peel Employment Exploration Hub.
Over 750 job seekers attended and were able to connect with employers with jobs available ranging from apprenticeships, service positions to qualified trades persons. As well as connecting to employers on the day, a range of activities were available to job seekers, including virtual reality interviews, resume preparation, transition workshops and interview skills.
Through the journey mapping activity, we engaged with people seeking employment and began to see the system through their eyes. All hub members were appreciative at the willingness of the participants to engage – the activity seemed to lighten their load somewhat and provided insight for us as well as them into the employment system. Hub members will use the journey maps to collectively sense deeply into the employment system and use the findings to prototype new interventions.
Congratulations to The Makers, the Peel Employment Facilitator and the Peel Jobs and Skills Centre on delivering such a fantastic event for our region.
